Business Management

Students learn teamwork and problem-solving skills through exposure to a variety of computer-based activities, Students are exposed to the proper business etiquette expected in today’s global marketplace and they are introduced to communication skills needed in the workplace.

Construction Technology

Essential skills for the building trades are covered. Advanced students build a home and earn national NCCER certification.

CTE Construction Technology Program

Design, manage, and build a variety of structures and products from concept to completion.
Interpret plans and specifications to construct custom products from raw materials.
Work independently and in teams in all aspects of construction including framing, roofing, plumbing, wiring, and finishing.

Culinary Arts and Management

Opportunities to engage in work experience with industry partners in various locations, earn a spot on a ProStart competition team, and obtain industry certifications.

Culinary Arts and Management Program Description:

Express individual creativity as part of a team that develops entire meals, creates unique dining experiences, and delivers great customer service.
Cook alongside professional chefs in a modern commercial kitchen setting to prepare a variety of global cuisines.
Operate fast-paced restaurant and food service venues such as the CTEC Café and catering services.
Opportunities to engage in work experience with industry partners in various locations, earn a spot on a ProStart competition team, and obtain industry certifications (Food Handler Card, ServSafe, OLCC).

Salem-Keizer Public Schools is proud to offer 50 state-approved CTE programs and four startup programs. Sixteen of these programs offer industry certification, opening the door for students to transfer into a community college, apprenticeship program or directly into a career.

Career & Technical Education Center (CTEC)

A separate location from other Salem-Keizer high schools, CTEC is a hub for area junior and senior students enrolled in CTEC programs. The state-of-the-art facility is a public-private partnership between Salem-Keizer Public Schools and area business leaders.

CTEC provides students the opportunity to:

Earn college-level credits
Earn industry-specific certifications and licenses
Internships and apprenticeships
Mentor programs and job shadows
Receive online training
Access career services including career fair, resume assistance, mock interviews, and portfolio development

How do I attend both CTEC and my regular high school classes?

Free transportation is provided to students who are bused from their home high school to spend 2.5 days a week on the CTEC campus.
CTEC students are still enrolled at their home school. You can participate in extracurricular activities and clubs and will receive your diploma from your high school.
CTEC's cafeteria runs on the same meal plans and lunch programs as other high schools.
