CSOC
The Community School Outreach Coordinator (CSOC) coordinates with parents and the community, helping with, dental, medical, clothing, counseling and In-touch. The CSOC also helps with the ELL program.

Graduation Coach
The Graduation Coach acts as a case manager for our at-risk students. They focus on preventing students from dropping out of high school. They also support and direct students for alternative graduation programs if appropriate.

Migrant Specialist
The Migrant Specialist provides academic and social support to the school's migrant families, students and parents. They track migrant students' attendance, grades and graduation requirements, and assist students in college and career opportunities.

The ASPIRE Coordinator provides academic support for students through mentoring and tutoring opportunities with local college and university students.

What do school counselors do?
What does the North Salem counseling team provide?
The Counseling department at North Salem High School wants our students to receive a high-quality education. The counseling department has many resources for students looking for, educational assistance, college and career guidance, mental health assistance, or general help with challenges outside of school. The North Salem High School counseling department is a great place to get the help you or your child may need.
Academic guidance
The guidance department can help students with preparing for college. Making sure each student is on track to achieve their college and career goals. Some of responsibilities include but are not limited to:
- Letters of recommendation
- Helping with College applications
- Helping with FAFSA
- Making sure students are on track for graduation
- helping students get tutoring
- Scheduling
- Tracking for NCAA eligibility and clearing house
- Scholarships
Enrollment
- When enrolling please have the following information:
- Updated transcript and grades from most recent school
- Proof of address: utility, gas, electric, rental agreement.
- Legal guardian and student need to be present.
- Copy of an Individual Education Plan (IEP) (if you student has one).
- Copy of a 504 (medical accommodations, if you student has one).
- We do accept walk-in enrollments, but it is helpful if you schedule an appointment ahead of time.
We can help our students with school supplies if they are needed.
Social/Emotional
Although our counselors do not provide counseling sessions, they are qualified professionals who can help assist in any Social Emotional growth of your child. Our counselors can help provide resources for the following areas:
- Depression
- Anxiety
- Grief/loss
- Social Skill development
- Anger management
- Self-harm/suicidal idealization
- Gender or sexual orientation Identity
Social Services
Our counselors have resources to help out students who are experiencing:
- Abuse
- Homelessness
- Hunger
- Financial hardships.
- Lack of medical care
- Hard time joining clubs, groups, sports due to fees

Resources
Saturday School
We provide Saturday School for our students every other Saturday. This is an opportunity to catch up on work and to meet with tutors to help out. We provide lunch but do not provide transportation.
StudentVUE and ParentVUE
Students and Parents are able to see current class grades, attendance, work completed, communicate with teachers, and see a calendar of upcoming quizzes test and work due. Each student's password should be their School ID unless changed.

Healthy Student Boundaries

NCAA
If you are interested in becoming a collegiate student athlete, check-in with your coach, counselor and read the information on the NCAA's site to make sure you are eligible. There are different levels of college sports so see what school best fits you.
NAIA & NCAA Eligibility
There are different levels of college sports. Make sure you can play with the NCAA or NAIA clearing house. Feel free to stop by your counselor's office if you have questions.
Senior Resources
F.A.F.S.A
The Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) is the first step to pay for college. This process will look at the family need to finical aid and will allow for students to get the money needed.
Oregon Student Aid
The Higher Education Coordinating Commission (formerly OSAC) is an organization dedicated to helping Oregon students get into college. This link will help out with Oregon Scholarship and walks through the process to apply.
Oregon CIS
Oregon CIS (Oregon Career Information System) is where our students can build their resume, test to see what careers they might be interested in and then map out a plan of action to achieve their career goals.
The College Board
Students can sign up for the ACT and the SAT through the link below. This is an importation step in the college acceptance process. Junior year is the recommended start time for SAT/ACT preparation.
