North Salem High School has become the newest member of an ever-growing global community of 5,400 schools offering the International Baccalaureate (IB) in 158 different countries. North Salem will be the 20th school in Oregon providing the IB Diploma Program (DP) and only the 3rd providing the IB Career-related Program (CP); North is the first to offer both the DP and CP in Salem-Keizer.

Student attendance cohort information now available on ParentVUE and StudentVUE

You can now login to ParentVUE and StudentVUE to see your student’s assigned attendance cohort. Students have been assigned to either a Tuesday/Thursday attendance cohort or to a Wednesday/Friday attendance cohort.

EDGE students will see EDGE as their assigned attendance cohort.

All students, K-12, who live at the same residence should have the same attendance cohort.

Elementary students

During comprehensive distance learning, all elementary students will attend online classes Tuesday – Friday regardless of their assigned attendance cohort.

North Salem High School Forecasting (selecting next year’s classes)

The North Salem High School Counselors have been busy creating a website for current 8th, 9th, 10th and 11th grade students. The website will guide you in selecting classes for the coming 2021-22 school year.

Counselors will be conducting live, guided sessions through ZOOM on the following dates during Social Studies and Science classes. Students are scheduled by grade level:

  • 9th grade – Tuesday, March 2 – Friday, March 5
  • 10th grade – Tuesday, March 9- Friday, March 12
  • 11th grade – Tuesday, March 16 – Friday, March 19

As we approach the final quarter of the 2020-21 school year, we are excited to begin welcoming students in grades 6-12 back into our buildings for hybrid learning.

Video: Hybrid learning for SKPS middle and high schools.

In hybrid learning, students will continue to have class periods on their cohort days, but they will attend classes at school. That could be on Tuesdays and Thursdays or Wednesdays and Fridays. Students will alternate between in-person learning in our school buildings and applied (independent) learning at home. North Salem High School MEChA students (Liliana Granados, Abigail Perin, Cynthia Morales Ornelas, Cecilia Gonzalez Cantor,  Jadzia Beard, Elia Sanchez, Tracy Trinh, Coral Pineda and Alicia Chase) represented Salem Keizer Public schools in the César E. Chávez Leadership Conference Special Edition: The Legacy Challenge! Two North MEChA teams were awarded $750 each for video workshops they created and narrated for the challenge and virtual leadership conference.

Video content requirements were

  • Educate and embody the legacy of César E. Chávez y el movimiento.
  • Explain how his lessons and teachings are relevant in today’s world.
  • Workshops can be in English, Spanish, or Bilingual.
